Dave Stevens - What are we trying to preserve? (a guide to the circle of fifths)

This video really helped me understand why the circle of fifths is a major part of barbershop music.  It taught me new things and connected things I already knew that weren't connected.  I hope this helps you understand the circle of fifths.  It taught me it didn't originate in barbershop, but most likely in the classical music era.  It taught me that people discovered one way that music naturally resolves.  Our ears like the way the chords work their way back home.  Please watch and watch again.
